TAMWORTH JUNIOR SKI PROGRAM

Since the 1930s, the Tamworth Outing Club (TOC) has been dedicated to providing ski instruction to the children of Tamworth. Initially, the program began on Page Hill, featuring a ski slope and a rope tow maintained by the club. In subsequent years, the youngest participants would learn to ski in Dr. Remick’s pasture, then transition to mastering their skills on Page Hill. With the growth of the Mt. Whittier Ski Area, the program relocated there, and upon its closure, found its current home at King Pine Ski Area. Throughout these transitions, the commitment of our numerous volunteers has remained unwavering.

Every Friday during the six-week winter season, students in grades one through eight are released from school to attend ski instruction. For cross-country enthusiasts, local trails provide the perfect setting for learning. Whether beginners or budding junior racers, the TOC, in partnership with the Kenneth A. Brett School and Eastern Slope Ski Club, ensures that every child with the desire to ski or snowboard can do so.

The success of this program is made possible by the generous support of the Tamworth Foundation, as it has evolved into a significant endeavor that greatly benefits our community’s children.
